It can be a challenge to pick up an arriving passenger at an airport. Before cell phones I remember trying to help a friend out by picking her up at the airport. I drove around and around in circles because I couldn’t stop in front of a door for too long before someone would come up behind me and I needed to get out of the way. I was just hoping that I was at the right door to pick her up and I wasn’t even sure if her flight was on time. What a mess! Eventually I did find her and it all worked out.
Fresno Yosemite Airport has a Cell Phone Waiting Area for guests to use while waiting to pick a passenger up. You can park your car and wait until the passenger calls you to let you know they have landed and where exactly you can meet them to pick them up. This handy area allows the motorist to wait in a safe area instead of driving around in circles.
The FYI airport’s Cell Phone Waiting Area is open 24 hours a day and has 12 spaces. Drivers are allowed to remain in a space for a maximum of 60 minutes and the driver must stay with the vehicle at all times. The Airport Police monitor the use of the lot. This waiting area is located east of the terminal on the north side of the entry road.
If the Cell Phone Waiting Area is full another option for picking up an arriving passenger is to park in the short term parking lot. There is a fee of $1.00 for up to 20 minutes and $2.00 for 20 to 40 minutes.
Thankfully gone are the days of driving around in circles at the Fresno International Airport.
